The first line-ups have been announced for the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Awards parties – this year taking place in Amsterdam & London! Joining the world’s No.1 DJ on Friday 19th October at the Amsterdam Convention Factory will be Hardwell, Arty, and R3hab, with further special guests to be announced shortly.
Following the awards in Holland and their DJ set, the world’s No.1 DJ will be flown to London for the UK edition of the Top 100 DJs party at The Gallery at the Ministry of Sound, where they’ll be joined by Markus Schulz, Sean Tyas, Orjan Nilsen and Thomas Gold.
This year has seen the Poll inspiring fierce debate as loyal dance music fans have voted in their hundreds of thousands once again. The Poll closed on 30th August, an extra day having been added due to the weight of last minute votes that crashed the Facebook app. Over 50,000 people downloaded the free Top 100 DJs album from Trackitdown, which featured tracks and remixes from UMEK, Sander Van Doorn, Roger Sanchez, Alex M.O.R.P.H. presents Indigo, Chuckie, Ferry Corsten and many more.
On 22 October, Ministry of Sound will release the DJ mag Top 100 DJs album.
With over half a million votes received from music fans in over 167 countries, The Top 100 DJs Poll powered by Trackitdown is the biggest music poll of its kind in the world. In 2011, David Guetta made global headlines when he toppled Armin Van Buuren from the No.1 spot, Van Buuren having previously held the top position for 4 years. DJ Mag is the world’s biggest dance magazine, translated into 10 languages and with more Facebook fans than any other music magazine worldwide. The Top 100 DJs Poll 2012 Awards party will be held in Amsterdam for the second time during the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s biggest electronic music festival, in October.
The Top 100 DJs Poll powered by Trackitdown is a public vote where voters are given the chance to name their Top 5 favourite DJs in order of preference. It inspires fierce debate all year round with speculation on the world’s top spinner, new entries, and biggest climbers, dominating social media and beyond.
The Top 100 DJs Poll powered by Trackitdown began in 1993 as an in-house list put together by the staff in the DJ Mag office. After becoming a public vote in 1997, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, John Digweed, Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren and David Guetta have each been voted No.1, with Guetta telling DJ Mag last year that scooping the Top 100 DJs crown meant more to him than scoring a No.1 hit record in America. So, who will win in 2012? Will Guetta hold on to the top spot? Might Armin return there, will leading Brits Above & Beyond take the honours, or will it be one of the new kids on the block like Avicii, Skrillex or Afrojack?
